Travel Tips

ArubaUseful tips for your trip

Aruba is known as 'One Happy Island' — the friendliest island in the Caribbean with an exceptionally safe and welcoming atmosphere. Eagle Beach and Palm Beach are two of the Caribbean's most famous and beautiful beaches. The water is calm, clear and warm, ideal for beginner snorkellers.

Aruba is perfect for water sports — thanks to constant trade winds it is one of the Caribbean's best windsurfing and kitesurfing destinations. Hadicurari Beach (Fisherman's Huts) is world-famous among windsurfers. Snorkelling and diving are also excellent, especially at the shipwrecks.

Aruba is a constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands although it has extensive self-government. Papiamento is the mother tongue — a unique creole language from a mix of Dutch, Portuguese, Spanish and African languages. Dutch, Spanish and English are also widely spoken.

Arikok National Park is the rugged, cactus-studded side of Aruba — far from the beach life. Here you find natural pools (Conchi), the rocky Tortuga Bay and caves. Jeep tours are popular for exploring the interior. The east coast is wild and windy, very different from the calm west coast beaches.

Oranjestad is Aruba's lively capital with colourful Dutch colonial architecture, good restaurants and an active harbour area. Sunset at the California Lighthouse in the northwest is a romantic highlight. The Renaissance Mall area has good shopping and restaurants. Local food is affordable at the local market stalls.

Aruba gets sunshine almost every day of the year — and you should enjoy every one of them without worrying about your connection. Order your eSIM, get your QR code instantly, set up before you fly. Connected on the beach, no roaming.
