Frequently Asked Questions

Brazil eSIM

Brazil has good 4G/LTE coverage in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Brasília and most major cities. In rural areas, the Amazon rainforest and remote regions the signal can be considerably weaker or absent.
After purchase you'll get a QR code by email. Go to settings, tap 'Add eSIM' and scan. Done in two minutes. Best to set it up at home — land in Brazil already online.
São Paulo (GRU/CGH) and Rio de Janeiro (GIG/SDU) are the main entry points. Manaus (MAO) for the Amazon basin. Other important airports: Belo Horizonte (CNF), Salvador (SSA), Recife (REC), Fortaleza (FOR), Foz do Iguaçu (IGU) and Florianópolis (FLN).
Brazil uses the Brazilian real (BRL). Cards are accepted in hotels and larger restaurants but cash is necessary in rural areas and small restaurants. Brazil is affordable to mid-range for Western Europeans, but prices vary considerably by region.
Brazil is vast with very different climates. Rio de Janeiro and the southeast: April–October (dry season) is best. Amazon: dry season (June–November) is easiest. Pantanal: July–September (dry season) for wildlife. Carnival (Rio, Salvador) is in February/March.

Travel Tips

BrazilUseful tips for your trip

Rio de Janeiro is one of the world's most beautiful cities — Copacabana and Ipanema beaches, Sugarloaf Mountain and Christ the Redeemer. Santa Teresa is the bohemian neighbourhood. Rio Carnival (samba parades and balls) is the world's biggest street party. Take care with safety near favelas.

The Brazilian Amazon basin is one of the world's most biologically rich ecosystems. Manaus is the main gateway for jungle tours. The Negro River and jungle camps are excellent. Five-day tours offer sightings of pink river dolphins, piranhas, toucans and possibly jaguars.

Iguaçu Falls (on the border with Argentina) are one of the world's most spectacular natural wonders — wider than Niagara and Victoria Falls. Visit both sides — the Brazilian side offers the best panorama, the Argentine side more walkways and closeness. Foz do Iguaçu is the base city.

The Pantanal is the world's largest tropical wetland and offers Brazil's best wildlife encounters. Unlike the Amazon, the vegetation is thinner and animals are easier to see: jaguars, capybaras, giant otters, hyacinth macaws. Cuiabá or Corumbá are the entry points.

Brasília (federal capital) is a UNESCO World Heritage city — a futuristic capital built from scratch in 1960. Oscar Niemeyer's architecture (National Palace, Cathedral, National Museum) is extraordinarily worth seeing. São Paulo has Latin America's most vibrant restaurant and arts scene.

Brazil — the Amazon, Carnival in Rio, Iguazú Falls and the megacity of São Paulo. Order your eSIM, get your QR code instantly, scan and set up before you board. No roaming, no SIM purchase, connected straight away.
