Frequently Asked Questions

Sweden eSIM

Sweden has excellent 4G/LTE coverage in cities and along major transport routes. Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö also have widespread 5G. In sparsely populated northern Sweden, Lapland and deep in forests coverage can become patchy. For wilderness trips plan for offline maps and a satellite compass.
After purchase you’ll get a QR code by email. Go to your phone settings, tap ‘Add eSIM’ and scan the code. Done in two minutes. Best to set it up at home before you fly — so you’re online the moment you land at Arlanda or Landvetter.
The main international airport is Stockholm Arlanda (ARN), about 40km north of the city. Stockholm also has Bromma (BMA) for domestic flights. Gothenburg has Landvetter (GOT). Malmö is typically served via Copenhagen Kastrup Airport (CPH) in Denmark, which is easily reached by train over the Øresund Bridge. Other key airports include Luleå (LLA) and Umeå (UME) for northern Sweden.
Sweden is one of the most expensive countries in Europe for tourists. A beer in Stockholm can cost €10–12 and a lunch restaurant €15–20. Cards are accepted everywhere and cash is almost unnecessary — many Swedes carry no cash at all. The Swedish krona (SEK) is the currency, though credit cards are the norm.
Summer (June–August) is the most popular time — long daylight hours, Midsommar celebrations and pleasant weather. Lapland in winter (December–March) is magical for Northern Lights and snow experiences. Spring and autumn are lovely in Stockholm and Gothenburg but weather can be unpredictable. For Midsommar book very early — it’s the biggest celebration of the year.

Travel Tips

SwedenUseful tips for your trip

Allemansrtten (the right to roam) is a unique Swedish law: you can hike, camp and pick berries anywhere in nature — including private land — as long as you cause no damage and show respect. This means no campfires during dry periods, leave no trace and keep a respectful distance from private houses.

Stockholm is one of Europe’s most spread-out capitals — 14 islands connected by 57 bridges. The public transport system (SL) is very good and a 24h or 72h pass is the easiest way to explore. Download the SL Journey Planner app. The old town Gamla Stan is most beautiful early morning before the cruise ship tourists arrive.

Fika is more than a coffee break — it’s a Swedish institution. Twice a day (usually around 10:00 and 15:00) people take time for coffee and pastries, often with colleagues or friends. If a Swede invites you for fika, accept — it’s a genuine invitation to connect. Cinnamon buns (kanelbullar) are the classic fika pastry.

Lapland in winter offers three unique experiences: Northern Lights (best from January to March), the Ice Hotel in Jukkasjrvi (rebuilt every year from ice of the Torne River since 1989) and reindeer and dog sled tours. The darkest period in December can actually have a special atmosphere — cosy cabins and campfires in the snow.

Sweden is known for design and sustainability. If you’re shopping, Stockholm’s Södermalm neighbourhood is best for independent design boutiques, vintage shops and Scandinavian design. IKEA is originally Swedish of course, but local brands like Acne Studios, Nudie Jeans, Filippa K and Sandqvist are also highly regarded.

Sweden — Stockholm on islands, Northern Lights in Lapland, Midsummer celebrations, ABBA and the homeland of IKEA. Order your eSIM, get your QR code instantly, set up before you fly. Connected in Stockholm, Gothenburg, Malmö and everywhere, no roaming.
