Frequently Asked Questions

Bahamas eSIM

The Bahamas have good 4G/LTE coverage in Nassau, Paradise Island and most populated islands. On remote Out Islands like the Exumas or Abacos the signal can be weaker.
After purchase you'll get a QR code by email. Go to settings, tap 'Add eSIM' and scan. Done in two minutes. Best to set it up at home — land in Nassau already online.
Nassau has Lynden Pindling International Airport (NAS) with connections from the USA, Canada and Europe. From Florida it's about 35 minutes. Many islands have smaller airports or ferry connections.
The Bahamas use the Bahamian dollar (BSD), pegged 1:1 to the US dollar. US dollars are accepted everywhere. On remote islands cash is essential. Upscale to luxury destination.
December to April is best — dry season, little rain, pleasant temperatures. May to November is hurricane season with September and October riskiest. Water is warm year-round (25–29°C).

Travel Tips

BahamasUseful tips for your trip

Nassau and Paradise Island are good for casinos and the Atlantis resort, but the real gems are the Out Islands. The Exumas have crystal-clear water and the famous swimming pigs of Major Cay. Harbour Island has pink-sand beaches. The Abacos are excellent for sailing.

Snorkelling and diving in the Bahamas is world-class. The Andros reef is one of the longest in the western hemisphere. Dean's Blue Hole on Long Island is the world's deepest known blue hole. Shark encounters with specialist operators are possible and unforgettable.

The Bahamas are expensive — prices are US-level or higher. Save money with self-catering on the Out Islands, local market shopping and buying fish directly from fishermen. Local rum bars are far cheaper than hotel drinks.

Bahamian cuisine centres on conch — eaten as conch salad (raw marinated), conch fritters (deep-fried) and cracked conch (breaded and fried). Fresh grouper and mahi-mahi are excellent. Kalik is the local beer.

Nassau has a fascinating pirate history. In the 18th century it was a pirate republic under Blackbeard and Calico Jack. The Pirates of Nassau Museum brings this history to life. The colourful colonial architecture of Bay Street and the downtown Straw Market are also worth visiting.

The Bahamas has 700 islands — and every one of them deserves a photo worth sharing. Order your eSIM, get your QR code instantly, set up before you fly. Connected in Nassau, Exuma and everywhere in between, no roaming.
