Frequently Asked Questions

Ireland eSIM

Ireland has solid 4G/LTE coverage in Dublin, Cork, Galway and most towns. In rural areas, along the Wild Atlantic Way and in remote parts of western Ireland coverage can become patchy or unreliable. Offline maps are recommended for road trips.
After purchase you'll get a QR code by email. Go to your phone settings, tap 'Add eSIM' and scan the code. Done in two minutes. Best to set it up at home — so you land in Dublin already online.
Dublin has Dublin Airport (DUB), the busiest airport on the island and one of the key links between Europe and North America. Cork has Cork Airport (ORK). Shannon (SNN) is important for transatlantic flights. Knock (NOC) serves western Ireland.
Ireland uses the euro (EUR). Cards are widely accepted in Dublin and most towns. In rural pubs, small village shops and farmers markets cash is often still preferred. Ireland is more expensive than the European average.
Summer (June–August) is the most popular time and the warmest weather, though rain is possible any time. Spring and autumn are quieter and cheaper. The Irish winter is mild compared to continental Europe. There's no bad weather in Ireland — just wrong clothing.

Travel Tips

IrelandUseful tips for your trip

The pub is the centre of Irish culture — not just a drinking place but a gathering point for music, conversation and community. Traditional Irish music sessions happen spontaneously in pubs, especially in towns like Doolin, Killarney and Westport. Ask the barman where tonight's music is on.

The Wild Atlantic Way is one of the world's longest coastal routes — 2,500km from Donegal to Cork. By car the Cliffs of Moher, Ring of Kerry and Connemara are all accessible. Rent a car in Dublin and drive anticlockwise. Irish roads in rural areas are often very narrow.

Guinness tastes different in Ireland than anywhere else — a fresh pint from the tap in a proper Dublin pub is the real thing. Don't rush it; a proper pint of Guinness takes 119.5 seconds to pour. The Smithfield area and the Liberties are real Dublin neighbourhoods with less touristy pubs.

Ireland is generally very rainy — but that's what makes the landscape so green and beautiful. Always pack a waterproof jacket whatever time of year you come. A 'soft day' (light constant drizzle) is normal and the Irish talk about it without complaining. Experiencing the rain outdoors is part of it.

Dublin can be explored in a couple of days but the real Ireland is outside the capital. Bus Éireann or a rental car can get you to Galway in 2.5 hours, Cork in 3 hours. Galway has a lively arts and music scene and the Connemara area around it is some of the most dramatic landscape in Europe.

Ireland — the Cliffs of Moher, lively pubs in Dublin, green rolling hills and one of Europe's friendliest populations. Order your eSIM, get your QR code instantly, set up before you fly. Connected in Dublin, Cork, Galway and everywhere, no roaming.
