Frequently Asked Questions

Croatia eSIM

Croatia has good 4G/LTE coverage in Zagreb, Split, Dubrovnik and along the Adriatic coast. On remote islands and in the Dalmatian hinterland coverage can weaken. In most tourist areas coverage is good.
After purchase you'll get a QR code by email. Go to your phone settings, tap 'Add eSIM' and scan the code. Done in two minutes. Best to set it up at home — so you land in Zagreb or Split already online.
Zagreb has Franjo Tuđman Airport (ZAG). Split has Split Airport (SPU), the main gateway for Dalmatia. Dubrovnik has Dubrovnik Airport (DBV), one of the busiest in season. Other airports include Zadar (ZAD), Pula (PUY) and Rijeka (RJK).
Croatia has used the euro (EUR) since 2023. Cards are widely accepted in tourist areas, hotels and restaurants. In smaller island villages, local markets and remote areas cash is sometimes still preferred.
Summer (June–August) is peak season for beaches and islands but also hot and very crowded. May–June and September–October are ideal — warm sea, fewer crowds and lower prices. Dubrovnik is extremely packed in July and August. Zagreb is interesting year-round.

Travel Tips

CroatiaUseful tips for your trip

Dubrovnik is beautiful but absolutely packed in July and August — cruise ships bring thousands of visitors daily. Visit the city walls early morning (before 8am) or late afternoon when most day-trippers have left. Neighbourhoods like Lapad have less congestion and nicer beaches.

The Croatian islands are the heart of the Adriatic holiday. Ferries from Split reach Hvar, Brač, Korcula and many others. Hvar is trendy and lively, Vis is quieter and more authentic. Book ferries in advance via Jadrolinija, especially in summer. Some islands are only reachable by boat.

Plitvice Lakes National Park is one of Europe's natural wonders — 16 interconnected lakes with turquoise water and waterfalls. Online tickets are mandatory — there is a quota and they sell out fast, especially in summer. Arrive early morning and plan a full day.

Croatian coastal cuisine is Mediterranean and fresh. Fresh fish, black squid ink risotto (crni rizot), grilled squid and oysters from the island of Mali Lošinj are highlights. Inland the cuisine is heartier — štukana govedina (slow-cooked beef) and kulen (spicy sausage) from Slavonia are worth seeking out.

Zagreb is beautiful and genuine — not a seasonal tourist city like Dubrovnik but a real European capital with good museums, cafés and nightlife. The upper town (Gornji Grad) is historical and lovely on foot. The lower town has Art Nouveau architecture and lively markets like Dolac.

Croatia — Dubrovnik, Plitvice Lakes, countless islands and the clearest water in the Adriatic. Order your eSIM, get your QR code instantly, scan and set up before you board. Connected in Zagreb, Split, Dubrovnik and everywhere, no roaming.
