Frequently Asked Questions

Denmark eSIM

Denmark has excellent 4G/LTE coverage across the whole country. Copenhagen, Aarhus, Odense and Aalborg are very well covered. Even on most islands and in rural areas the coverage is good. 5G is widespread in the major cities.
After purchase you'll get a QR code by email. Go to your phone settings, tap 'Add eSIM' and scan the code. Done in two minutes. Best to set it up at home — so you land in Copenhagen already online.
Copenhagen has Kastrup Airport (CPH), one of Scandinavia's biggest hubs. It's so central you can take the metro from the city centre in 15 minutes. Aarhus has Aarhus Airport (AAR) in Tirstrup. Billund (BLL) is the second busiest and is near Legoland. Aalborg (AAL) serves northern Jutland.
Denmark uses the Danish krone (DKK) — not the euro, even though Denmark is an EU member. Card payments are accepted everywhere. Cash is barely needed. Denmark is one of the most cashless countries in the world.
Summer (May–August) is the most popular time — long light evenings, festivals and lively city life. Spring and autumn are quieter and cheaper. Winter is cool and dark but Copenhagen's cosy hygge atmosphere and Christmas markets make it special.

Travel Tips

DenmarkUseful tips for your trip

Copenhagen is one of the world's most bike-friendly cities. Rent a bike and follow the extensive cycle lane network — it's actually faster than other transport and makes you feel like a real Copenhagener. The city has separated cycle paths on almost every street.

Hygge (pronounced roughly 'hoo-gah') is the Danish concept of cosiness — warm lighting, coffee, good company. You experience it in every café and social gathering. It's not a marketing invention but a genuine way of life.

Copenhagen is world-famous for its food scene — Noma put New Nordic cuisine on the map globally. For cheaper eating: smørrebrød (open sandwiches) in a traditional canteen or at Torvehallerne market. A New Nordic three-course dinner can easily cost 150–200 euros per person.

Copenhagen is a great base for day trips. Kronborg Castle (the real Hamlet's castle) is just 45 minutes by train. Louisiana Museum of Modern Art is a gem. Roskilde with its Viking Ship Museum and cathedral is also easily reached.

Denmark is expensive but Copenhagen's public transport is good. The Rejsekort (travel card) is cheaper than individual tickets. Metro and S-tog run frequently. For cheaper accommodation, consider staying in Malmö in Sweden — only 35 minutes by train across the Øresund Bridge.

Denmark — Copenhagen's Nyhavn, hygge culture, cycling and some of the world's best restaurants. Order your eSIM, get your QR code instantly, set up before you fly. Connected in Copenhagen, Aarhus and everywhere, no roaming.
