Why does my Google Pixel not show 'Download a SIM' or 'Add eSIM'?

Almost all Pixels from the Pixel 3 onward support eSIM, except some regional variants (for example, certain Pixels sold in Asia). Dial *#06# to check for an EID, update Android to the latest version, and look under Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → 'Add eSIM' / 'Download a SIM instead?'. If no EID shows, that device doesn't support eSIM.
